Batman - Original Soundtrack by Prince, Score by Danny Elfman

Image
Prince When director Tim Burton approached Prince to write an original song for this 1989 blockbuster, Prince responded like only he could: He cranked out an album's worth of material instead. Though very little of what's here actually soundtracked the film, its gathering of panoramic guitar heroics ("Electric Chair"), diaphanous pop ("Vicki Waiting"), maximalist funk ("Partyman"), and hip-hop-inspired breakbeats ("Batdance") provides a vital companion to (and commentary on) Burton's often grotesque vision of '80s-inspired Gotham. "Hollywood conjures images of the past," Prince sings on the throbbing opener. "I've seen the future and it works." Nine Inch Noize - Coachella 2026 / The LSD (left spine down live PA) - Vancouver 2023

Nine Inch Noize - Coachella 2026 "The creative fulfillment of working on the  Challengers  and  TRON  scores with Boys Noize led me to think that including him in the Peel It Back tour could be an interesting way to express NIN in more purely electronic terms live – a concept I’ve wanted to explore for some time. The result was so much fun for us we felt it was worth expanding and formalizing in some way. On a whim I mentioned it would be cool to play a whole set as  Nine Inch Noize  in the Sahara tent at Coachella.  Careful what you wish for…the next thing I knew we were designing a whole new show to present in the way it deserved. There’s no surprise tour announcement – this Saturday is it.  I’m taking Sunday off and excited to be working on new Nine Inch Nails music Monday – I’ll see you when I come up for air. We recorded this album all over the place – some of it’s live, some in studios, hotels, planes, etc.  We ...

DOCTOR WHO: OUT OF TIME  The Cathedral of Contemplation is an enigma, existing outside time. It turns through history, opening its doors across the universe to offer solace to those in need. The Doctors must travel back in time to find the ...

Skinny Puppy: Remix Dystemper, Nine Inch Nails: Things Falling Apart

Image
Currently enjoying “Remix Dystemper” by Skinny Puppy In 1998, when  Remix Dystemper  first hit the shelves,  Skinny Puppy  had  broken up  following years of acrimony and the death of keyboardist  Dwayne Goettel . Although they would  reform  a few years later as a duo, the remix album, featuring tracks drawn from over a decade of material, was very much a retrospective at the time of its release. Today, it feels like a look back at the first and arguably best chapter of the group’s history. Equal parts remix album and tribute album, the disc features reworkings of notable tracks by artists who were influenced by the group – and the eclectic range of remixers suggests that the group’s influence was a lot broader than you might expect from a Canadian industrial band. Many of the remixes are updated and more accessible versions of older, heavier singles; the  God Lives Underwater version of “Testure” and the  Günter Schulz ...

The Beavis and Butthead Experience / Ren & Stimpy: You Eediot!

VARIOUS ARTISTS :: THE BEAVIS AND BUTT-HEAD EXPERIENCE STEVE 'FLASH' JUON   RapReviews.com OCTOBER 1, 2024 As rap albums go “ The Beavis and Butt-Head Experience ” is stretching the definition to almost the breaking point. That said if you include the unadvertised “hidden track” I think we can get at least 33% of the way there, and that’s enough for me to justify an album that came along at a pivotal time in my life. I’m going to start with a brief explanation of who Beavis and Butt-Head are though for those of you who have been living in a fascist state for 30 years and are just now looking at the internet for the first time. The odds you’d come here of all places seems minuscule at best but I’ll roll with it anyway. Before Mike Judge became a juggernaut in the entertainment world, he was a bored California kid with a degree in physics and no interest in office politics. He joined and left a startup tech firm, he played bass in a touring blues band, and eventually while pursu...
